Maxine Nwigwe, Psy.D is a passionate social justice advocate and engagement professional that firmly believes in the power of education, culture and art to build communities that foster individual empowerment and progressive social change. She holds a bachelor’s in Biology & Society from Cornell University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from The George Washington University.
Maxine designs learning environments and develops strategic professional programs that promote cultural awareness and community engagement. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, counseling and community engagement; directs academic initiatives in engaged scholarship, community-based learning and asset-based community development; and consults with community based organizations and K-12 schools on capacity-building and youth engagement.
A person who owns a pencil is one with the ability to create, shape and share his/her own narrative. It is indeed a gift, a true tool of writing and righting. Maxine is excited to be part of an organization that embodies such a strong message of empowerment, opportunity and social change.
